Newsweek Review [Top]

As things build up to the release of the Shadow Tower update on Tuesday the rest of the Trove universe has been quiet with expectation. However, as the Dev team begins to look beyond this patch, the modding community on the Trove forums has entered their sights. Avarem has indicated that a better way to interact with modders is on the priority list and that we can expect new guidelines for handling mods in the near future. See the original post here.

What do you think should be a part of the new mod guidelines? Leave your opinions here.

Lastly, the first week of the creations contest hosted by Trove Creations Digest is closing in on its first week where three random submissions will be awarded a Milambit's Sail Pack as the reward for Treasure Isle-themed creations on the /r/TroveCreations subreddit. Tuesday marks the start of the second week so there is still a chance to win! Find all the rules and details here.

Top Player Made Creations with Interviews - Week of 9/6-9/12 [Top]

As ranked by Reddit users, the following posts are the top rated creations from this past week here to give you a slice of the player-made creations from this past week. **(There is no guarantee that any of these items will be accepted in-game nor should their inclusion be understood as any type of endorsement. They are selected solely based upon their ratings by Reddit users.)

Player creator SpyzViridian offered the top-rated [Dungeon] Big Cake. See the full post here.

What was your inspiration for this item?

I love wandering around the sweet grounds of Candoria. I'm always thinking "Where do these monsters come from? They may have a home," so I felt I needed to make a place for them. A big cake for them it's like a big mall center for us!

What was your biggest challenge in creating this item?

The inners. The main problem was placing the decoration for the four sections, including the alt versions of each floor. It would be easier if we have a real editor for this :p

What words of inspiration do you have for other player creators out there?

"Great job so far!" That's what stedms said about one of my first lairs. That's enough for me to continue creating more stuff for Trove.

I'll continue creating more lairs and dungeons for Trove. They may or may not go into the game, but I don't mind. I feel like Trove needs both serious and funny dungeons/lairs, and I'll try to do the serious ones!

Player creator AwesomeGia1 (IGN: AwesomeGia) offered the top-rated [Lair] Neon City. See the full post here.

What was your inspiration for this item?

My inspiration for this creation was my cornerstone, and the inspiration for that was the project neon theme coming out in League of Legends as well as the neon city theme.

What was your biggest challenge in creating this item?

One was finding the right tool to use for the project. Another was the frustration it took to use MagicaVoxel. And lastly, it took me forever to find out how to insert the blueprint into the metaforge.

What words of inspiration do you have for other player creators out there?

If you really like designing, you should give this a try. It can be really fun to create a dungeon, especially if you base it off a theme you like. I spent most of my hours in neon city and my first class was neon ninja just cause I liked that theme. Building the dungeon should not feel forced and it should be a way to let your imagination go wild.

Player creator Vubo offered the top-rated [Spear]Mammoth Halberd. See the full post here.

Player creator darklaw39 (IGN: Darklaw) offered the top-rated [Spear] Toxic Injector. See the full post here.

What was your inspiration for this item?

I have always been a fan of the plague doctor stylization, there's just something about the mystery and ominous aura they extrude that just grasps at me. It was that sense of dread that I attempted to incorporate into the design.

What was your biggest challenge in creating this item?

The biggest challenge I faced while making this item was trying to make it ornate but trying to not make it look like a bunch of needles on a stick. I can't even begin to count the amount of rough drafts I went through in my attempt to make it aesthetically pleasing.

What words of inspiration do you have for other player creators out there?

Don't take criticism personally, they are criticizing the item, not you. So many times I see great creations being taken off the subreddit because they received too much criticism. When you DO get criticism, use it to fix the problem and try again.

Player creator xenostriker offered the top-rated [Sword] Dragon Scale Blade. See the full post here.

Reader Survey [Top]

Last weeks poll asked about which biome most inspires your creations. The respondants (76 total) indicated that Radiant Ruins (16 votes) and Neon City (15 votes) were their favorite biomes to design for, while the Fae Wilds came in dead last with just a single vote (1 vote).

This week's poll asks about your go-to creation model: "What item type is your favorite to make?"
